2023 - present
Summary
Since 2023, Hendy has partnered with AI for Equity to advance the responsible and effective integration of artificial intelligence in K–12 education. This partnership has focused on helping educators, school systems, and educational organizations build the knowledge, tools, and frameworks necessary to leverage AI in ways that strengthen teaching and learning. Hendy has co-facilitated leadership cohorts and communities of practice focused on AI literacy and implementation, supported research and resource development related to AI in schools, partnered with curriculum organizations to integrate AI literacy into high-quality instructional materials, and contributed to sector-wide initiatives such as the AI Innovation Index.
Most notably, Hendy and AI for Equity have collaborated to create foundational resources designed to help educators navigate the rapidly evolving AI landscape, including the AI Curriculum Hub, the AI Literacy Framework, and the AI Literacy Collective. Together, these initiatives provide educators with practical guidance, vetted resources, and a community of peers committed to ensuring AI is used to deepen student learning rather than replace critical thinking.

Outcomes
While our work with AI for Equity is ongoing, we have received positive feedback from participants in the AI cohorts we've co-facilitated. Some feedback includes:
- "Appreciate how you all break down these huge ideas into something that seems a lot more doable and manageable. It just makes it easier for me to break down and bring to the other leaders to show them the importance and relevance of bringing all of this into our classrooms. Our focus is solely on academics, getting teachers to use the curriculum, teach at a high level so it is my job for our leaders to see that teaching our staff and students about AI is still important even if it's not looked at as what will improve our academic scores."
- "I genuinely appreciate all the support and the resources you have provided. We would not likely have launched our AI Task force or accomplished the work we have so far without your assistance. I am so grateful to be a part of this group!"
- "I was very excited to see the real-world examples of ways schools were integrating AI into school processes. I think my biggest takeaway was the need for guiding principles and use cases."
Hendy's work has also resulted in other programmatic outcomes, including:
- Created the AI Curriculum Hub, a comprehensive repository of AI-related instructional resources that helps educators identify high-quality materials through curated ratings, reviews, and implementation guidance from AI for Equity, reducing the burden on educators to evaluate an increasingly crowded marketplace.
- Developed and launched the AI Literacy Framework and AI Literacy Collective. The framework provides educators and students with rigor-upholding practices for engaging with AI in ways that deepen content-specific thinking, reasoning, and learning rather than bypassing it, while the collective has brought together educators, school and system leaders, curriculum organizations, and other stakeholders to share promising practices and advance AI literacy across the education sector.
