Summary
Hendy worked with Excel to develop and implement a teacher observation rubric, and provided training on the new tool. This work included convening a committee of stakeholders to articulate criteria for success; examine exemplar rubrics for their alignment to those criteria; and to create a rubric that articulated Excel's vision for excellent teaching. Hendy then created training and calibration materials to ensure all Excel teachers and leaders understood and were prepared to implement the tool in classroom observation and teacher coaching.

Summary
Building off of the development of the teacher rubric, Hendy supported Excel to create a shared vision for instructional support and a teacher coaching model aligned to that vision. Hendy is working with Excel instructional leaders to implement the coaching model to improve development and growth of teacher skill. This includes regular training and coaching for instructional leaders.

Summary
Hendy supported Excel to create a Leader Development and Evaluation Framework that includes a rubric and other measures for leader coaching and evaluation. This included convening a committee of stakeholders to identify leader competencies and create role-aligned rubrics that included these competencies. Hendy also created tools and resources, including trainings, aligned to the framework. Hendy is partnering with Excel to pilot the Leader Evaluation and Development Framework during the 2025-26 school year. The pilot includes training and support for leaders to implement the evaluation and development framework, and data collection to inform changes to the framework before full implementation beginning in fall 2026.
