Summary
First working with KIPP Austin beginning in 2015, then KIPP Houston beginning in 2017, the Hendy team supported the integration and alignment of the KIPP Texas Public Schools' talent development strategy across all 4 regions - Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas - Ft. Worth. In 2021, Hendy supported the creation of a comprehensive teacher observation rubric that sets a rigorous vision of excellence for all classrooms in KTX schools. The rubric became the cornerstone of the KTX Teacher Career Pathway that recognizes, rewards, and retains top teaching talent. Hendy worked with the KTX team to align the system with the statewide Texas Incentive Allotment program to ensure the most effective teachers earned significant pay increases.

Outcome
Implementation of the Teacher Career Pathway resulted in an over 90% annual retention rate of Stage 4 and 5 teachers. The statement “I understand what excellence looks like in my role” was the highest rated question on the annual employee survey – highlighting how the Teacher Career Pathway establishes a clear, high bar for performance.
