Teacher Career Pathway

First working with KIPP Austin beginning in 2015, then KIPP Houston beginning in 2017, supported the integration and alignment of the KIPP Texas Public Schools' talent development strategy across all 4 regions of KTX - Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas - Ft. Worth. In 2021, supported the creation of a comprehensive teacher observation rubric that sets a rigorous vision of excellence for all KTX schools and is the cornerstone of the KTX Teacher Career Pathway that recognizes, rewards, and retains top teaching talent. Aligned the system with the statewide Texas Incentive Allotment program to ensure the most effective teachers are earning significant pay increases.

Outcome

  • Over 90% annual retention of KTX’s Stage 4 and 5 teachers on the Teacher Career Pathway - the coaching, development, and evaluation system at KTX retains top talent.
  • “I understand what excellence looks like in my role” is the highest rated question on the annual employee survey – highlighting how the Teacher Career Pathway establishes a clear, high bar for performance.
